I signed up for my classes today and got into all of them! I'm taking four...Inorganic Chemistry, Health Science, Psychology of Death&Dying, and Hatha Yoga. Oh and I'm getting my First Responder CPR card (it's a more advanced version of the card I already have) so I can hopefully do EMT training next summer or fall.

BUT ANYWAYS...the good news is, I'll probably try and bust through Microbiology this summer, then I only have Physiology left to take in the Fall (or with Micro if it ends up being too brutal in the summer). And once I finish that...I'M DONE! I can apply to the Nursing program :D I am happy. And my baby is home in just 9 dayssss.

I ruptured an ovarian cyst last week and had to go to the hospital for a day while they ran every embarassing test possible to figure it out. It's extremeley painful...I had to not work or go to class for over a week, I was really terrified I wouldn't be able to finish the semester...and after all my hard work with Anatomy. But apparently I impressed my teachers this semester because they all worked something out for me and I honestly think I'll get my 4.0 again this semester. One more week!

Good luck to everyone on their finals, wish me luck! Oh and congrats to those who are done!

Addiction.

I watched a new episode of SVU yesterday and was absolutely appalled. It's been going through my head non-stop since I've watched it, because I can't believe America can be SO evil and money hungry.

Basically the episode was about a 'therapist' who started this 'home' for teens with addiction or behavioral problems. He healed with the power of 'love' and 'accepting the darkness' or whatever. Turns out he was raping a girl for sex therapy after repressed memories came out about her father molesting her (which turned out to not be true), and making her post cragistlist ads that she needs a 'Daddy' to have sex with or whatever. He was also feeding a 16 year old heroin users addiction. The kid was going crazy in withdrawl and had nowhere to go, no one to help him. Then B.D. Wong, the FBI Psychiatrist from the SVU squad took a special interest in him. Then he mentioned a drug called "Ibogaine". Apparently it is a 24-hour withdrawl drug (ONE PILL) with minimal symptoms that has the user clean and effective in days. But it's illegal in the United States. Why?-because methadone makes the country more money. They give opiate addicts another drug to thrive on that gets them high, which of course they need to pay for. Ibogaine isn't legal because methadone gets more money and it gets people to come back every day. Daily money. It also doesn't get people high like methadone does, in essence just giving them something else to become addicted to. I just couldn't believe it. The more research I do, the more shocked I get. It's not only opiate addiction that it can help either-on the list are crack, cocaine, meth...yet they won't make it legal here.

B.D. Wong was saying 'imagine how different it could be here if in 24 hours someone was feeling better...', and he ends up breaking the law and gives the kid the pill. The kid straightens up in days, testifies against the quack therapist, and gets justice for the dead, raped girl.

Now I know it's not as simple as a TV show, but for christ sake, really? Yes, I realize addiction, especially to such harsh drugs, is hard, and some may argue Ibogaine is the easy way out. It's not easy, it's not a 24-hour cure. But for so many I've seen, friends, people in hospitals, family....I would break the law to get them some of this too. It's legal in Canada and Mexico of course. But, hell, it's America and if they're making money, who cares how many people get addicted right?/end rant

Anatomy is getting bruuutal. Origins, insertions, actions, ahhh! But it's still awesome.

An interesting fact: I never drank coffee until a few months ago. Now I have around 3 cups a day. The funny thing is, my elderly clients got me into drinking it (in the mornings I would just to be friendly) at work, then I bought the instant stuff and now I'm addicted. Greeeat, haha.

In better news, they finally made me Nursing Care Manager for my two main patients. Woot!

I need to quit my other job doing urine tests at some point I think =/

Physics, Chemistry, and either English or another Psych class next semester. Or Calculus instead of Physics. We shall see. And I need to get my Nursing Assistant license recertified...and I kinda want to take an EMT class. and Phlebotomy (I finished all the pre-reqs for both). AHH!

Joel and I are all moved in to our room :) Well almost. But it looks cool and it's comfy and I'm really really happy.

In not so good news, my driver door is damaged because my brakes failed while I was in park and washing my window quickly on the outside...the car rolled black, the door smashed against cement poles, I had to chase my car in the middle of the street and got dragged in the road, finally lodged the door open. And yes, the car was in park the whole time. Not to mention I spent 4 hours at the hospital, damaged soft tissue in my knee and am gimping like a retard, as well as a torn ligament in my shoulder. I get to use a cane to get around campus soon. But hey, could've been mucho worse. YEEEAR!

Is great. Just magnificent. If I could place perfection in a bottle, it would contain Porcupine Tree's discography. The show last Friday was incredible, breath taking, beautiful, with a perfect set list. 2 hours of nothing but the fine tunes...including my favorite Trains FINALLY, and The Start of Something Beautiful (!!)

I love you Steven Wilson.

School is good. I got 100% on the first Anatomy lab practical. Fuck yeah.
